Dementia Friends

My paternal grandmother suffered from dementia. She was tormented by her condition. Ten years ago, I was given the wonderful opportunity to work as a volunteer at a day centre run by the Alzheimer's Society. I have seen first-hand how specialist home-care for people with dementia can increase the quality of life for sufferers, and their families.

Alastair Shanks, owner of Right at Home Guildford and Farnham, is running free dementia awareness sessions. The next session will be at :

St Johns Street, Farncombe
Godalming
GU7 3EH

3pm on the 20th August 2013 for 1hr
**Refreshments from 2.30pm**

Everyone is welcome to come along on the day. To give an idea of numbers please  email Farncombe Day Centre, if you would like to come.

People with dementia sometimes need a helping hand to go about their daily lives and feel included in their local community. Dementia Friends is giving people an understanding of dementia and the small things they can do that can make a difference to people living with dementia - from helping someone find the right bus to spreading the word about dementia.

We want to create a network of a million Dementia Friends across England by 2015.
