A wearer of hats

I have a hat-head. Mom did too, although our hat styles are very different. Mom liked a quirky hat, colourful and jaunty. I prefer a serious hat, practical, waterproof, the kind that messes up your hair, but who cares?

I often find myself 'changing' hats throughout the day, depending on what I'm doing. In the morning, I am chicken-keeper, dog-walker, super woman. Then I become serious practice manager, followed by sensitive confidante for a lunch date with a friend. Charity worker, scientist, swimmer, gardener, daughter, sister, wife, lover, friend. Phew! No wonder I'm exhausted at bed time.

My favourite hat? A wide-brimmed blue Barmah hat from Australia - perfect for gardening, dog walking and just pootling around.
